How to connect your stock feed

3 min5 stepsFor: EveryoneUpdated

To connect your stock, open DealerToolkit, go to Settings, then "Stock feed". Paste the feed link your stock system gives you, or choose "File on this computer" and pick a JSON or CSV file. Press "Save settings", go back to the Stock tab and press "Run feed". Your vehicles appear, sorted by status.

  1. Get a feed link from your stock system

A stock feed is a link that lists every vehicle you have for sale, with its details and photos. Most dealer management systems (DMS) and website providers can provide one.

Send your provider the DealerToolkit stock feed template (see the "Stock feed template" page). Many existing portal feeds already work because DealerToolkit understands the common column names.

Tip:Private sellers with a few cars can use a simple spreadsheet saved as CSV instead of a feed link.

  2. Open Settings, then "Stock feed"

In the DealerToolkit side panel, click the "Settings" tab and open the "Stock feed" section.

Choose "Link" and paste your feed address, or choose "File on this computer" and select your JSON or CSV file.

  3. Save your settings

Press "Save settings" at the bottom of the panel. You only need to do this once.

  4. Run the feed

Go back to the "Stock" tab and press "Run feed". DealerToolkit reads your stock and sorts every vehicle into a status.

Press "Run feed" whenever your stock changes, for example each morning. It is never run automatically.

  5. Check the statuses

Needs posting: in your stock but not yet on Marketplace. Posted: listed recently. Renew: listed long enough ago to benefit from a fresh listing. Price changed: your price differs from the listed price. Sold: no longer in your feed, so the listing should come down. Missing info: the feed lacks something Facebook needs, such as photos or mileage.

Questions about this guide

What format does the stock feed need to be?

JSON or CSV with one row per vehicle. It needs an id, make, model, year, price, mileage and at least one photo link. Fuel type, gearbox, body type, colour and description are optional but recommended. The full field list is on the Stock feed template page.

Does DealerToolkit work with AutoTrader or Gumtree?

DealerToolkit reads a stock feed rather than copying listings from AutoTrader or Gumtree pages. Ask your stock system or website provider for a feed in the DealerToolkit template; many already offer one for other portals.
