How to provide a DealerToolkit stock feed (for DMS and website providers)

10 min5 stepsFor: DMS and website providersUpdated

A DealerToolkit stock feed is a public JSON or CSV link listing every vehicle for sale. Each vehicle needs a stable id, make, model, year, price, mileage and photo links; fuel, gearbox, body type, colour and description are recommended. Include every available vehicle in each response, because vehicles missing from the feed are treated as sold.

  1. Choose JSON or CSV

JSON is preferred: an object with a "vehicles" array, or a bare array. CSV works too, with the field names as the header row and list fields separated by "|".

  2. Include the required fields

id (stable, unique, never reused), make, model, year, price (whole pounds), mileage (miles, for cars and vans) and images (public https links, best photo first, up to 20 used).

  3. Add the recommended fields

variant, fuel_type, transmission, body_type, colour, condition, doors, engine_size_cc, previous_owners, mot_expiry, description, features, url and updated_at. Free text is fine; DealerToolkit maps it to Facebook’s options.

  4. Host it at a stable link

The link must work without logging in. A long secret token in the address is fine. Return every vehicle currently for sale on every request.

  5. Send the link to the dealer

The dealer pastes it into DealerToolkit Settings, "Stock feed", "Link".
