Questions about posting cars to Facebook Marketplace

DealerToolkit is a Chrome extension that fills in Facebook Marketplace car listings from your stock feed, including up to 20 photos. You check each listing and press Publish. Below are answers about how it works, UK rules for dealers on Marketplace, stock feeds and keeping your account safe.

About DealerToolkit

What is DealerToolkit?

DealerToolkit is a Chrome extension that posts your cars to Facebook Marketplace for you. It reads your stock feed, fills in every field of the Facebook vehicle listing, uploads up to 20 photos and ticks your chosen groups. You check each listing and press Publish. It is made for UK dealers and private sellers.

Is there a tool to automatically post cars to Facebook Marketplace?

Yes. DealerToolkit is a Chrome extension that fills in Facebook Marketplace car listings automatically from your stock feed, including photos, make, model, mileage, price and description. Facebook has no public API for creating Marketplace listings, so tools like DealerToolkit work inside your own logged-in browser and you press Publish.

How do I bulk upload cars to Facebook Marketplace?

Facebook Marketplace has no bulk upload for vehicles in the UK. The fastest way is a tool such as DealerToolkit: tick the cars from your stock feed, press "Post selected", and each listing is filled in for you one after another. You press Publish on each, which takes a few seconds per car.

Who is DealerToolkit for?

DealerToolkit is for anyone selling cars or vans on Facebook Marketplace in the UK: private sellers, independent dealers, franchise dealers and main dealers. It suits anyone with a stock list, from a few cars on a spreadsheet to hundreds of vehicles in a dealer management system.

Does DealerToolkit publish listings without me?

No. DealerToolkit fills in the listing and uploads the photos, then stops. You check the listing and press Publish yourself, every time. This keeps you in control of what goes live and keeps your posting pattern similar to a normal seller’s.

Is DealerToolkit an alternative to Marketplace Pro?

Yes. DealerToolkit and Marketplace Pro are both Chrome extensions that fill in Facebook Marketplace vehicle listings. DealerToolkit reads a stock feed from your stock system instead of copying listings from AutoTrader or Gumtree pages, and gives you description templates, emoji bullets, group ticking and status tracking. See our comparison page for details.

Facebook Marketplace rules for car sellers

Can car dealers sell on Facebook Marketplace in the UK?

Yes. Dealers in the UK can list vehicles on Facebook Marketplace from a personal Facebook profile. Facebook removed vehicle listings from Business Pages in January 2023 and ended free dealer inventory feeds in 2021, so listings are made through the normal vehicle listing form, which DealerToolkit fills in for you.

Does Facebook have an API to post cars to Marketplace?

No. Facebook has no public API that lets a UK seller create Marketplace vehicle listings. Its partner listing programme covers only certain EU countries, and its vehicle catalogue is used for paid Automotive Inventory Ads. Tools that post cars work by filling in Facebook’s own listing form in your browser.

Do I have to say I am a dealer on Facebook Marketplace?

Yes, if you sell as a business. Since 6 April 2025 the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 makes it a banned practice for a trader to give the impression they are a private seller. Dealers should include their business name or a clear trader statement in every listing.

How many photos can a Facebook Marketplace car listing have?

A Facebook Marketplace vehicle listing can have up to 20 photos and one video. DealerToolkit uploads up to 20 photos from your stock feed in the order your feed lists them, so put the best exterior photo first.

How often should I renew car listings on Facebook Marketplace?

Many dealers relist cars about every 7 days, because listings get less visibility as they age. DealerToolkit marks posted cars as "Renew" after 7 days by default; you can change the number of days in Settings.

Can I post the same car in Facebook groups?

Yes. On the "List in more places" step Facebook lets you add a Marketplace listing to up to 20 groups you belong to. DealerToolkit can tick the groups you name in Settings automatically before you press Publish.

Stock feeds

What is a stock feed?

A stock feed is a link or file that lists every vehicle you have for sale, with details such as make, model, year, mileage, price and photo links. Dealer management systems and website providers produce stock feeds for portals. DealerToolkit reads JSON and CSV feeds.

My stock system does not have a DealerToolkit feed. What can I do?

Send your stock system or website provider the DealerToolkit stock feed template. Many providers already produce similar feeds for other portals, and DealerToolkit understands the common column names. Private sellers can use a spreadsheet saved as CSV.

Does DealerToolkit check my stock automatically?

No. DealerToolkit reads your feed only when you press "Run feed". It then sorts each vehicle into Needs posting, Posted, Renew, Price changed, Sold or Missing info, so you can see at a glance what needs doing.

Safety and privacy

Will using DealerToolkit get my Facebook account banned?

No tool can guarantee that, because Facebook does not publish its limits. DealerToolkit is designed to post like a careful person: one car at a time, in your own browser, with random waits between cars, daily and per-sitting limits, and you pressing Publish. Accurate listings and steady posting matter most.

Does DealerToolkit see my Facebook password?

No. DealerToolkit never asks for, sees or stores your Facebook password. It works inside the Facebook tab you are already logged in to, the same way you would fill in the form yourself.

What data does DealerToolkit store?

DealerToolkit stores your settings, your stock list and a record of which cars you posted and when, so it can sort them by status. It does not collect your Facebook messages, friends or browsing history. Full details are in the privacy policy.
