How to post your AutoTrader stock to Facebook Marketplace
To post the cars you advertise on AutoTrader to Facebook Marketplace, ask the DMS or website provider that sends your stock to AutoTrader for a stock feed link, and paste it into DealerToolkit. Press "Run feed", tick the cars and press "Post selected": each Facebook listing is filled in with up to 20 photos, and you press Publish.
Why use the feed behind your adverts
Your AutoTrader adverts are built from the stock in your dealer management system (DMS) or website platform. That stock record is the best source for Facebook too:
- Full details. Make, model, variant, mileage, price, fuel, gearbox, colour, body type and your description.
- Every photo. Up to 20 are uploaded to each Facebook listing, best photo first.
- Always current. Each time you press "Run feed", sold cars, price changes and new arrivals show up straight away.
- One run for many cars. Tick everything that needs listing and press "Post selected" once.
Step by step
- Ask your provider for a stock feed link. Contact the DMS or website provider that sends your cars to AutoTrader and ask for a JSON or CSV stock feed. Send them the stock feed template; many already produce a similar feed for other portals.
- Start your free trial and add DealerToolkit to Chrome. Guide
- Paste the feed link into Settings, "Stock feed", and press "Run feed". Guide
- Tick the cars and press "Post selected". Each Facebook listing is filled in with photos and your description layout. Guide
- Check each listing and press Publish. The next car follows after a short random wait.
Help getting a feed
Email support@dealertoolkit.co.uk with the name of your DMS or website provider and we will help you get a feed. The Dealer plan includes help connecting your stock system, and the Group plan includes feed set-up with your DMS provider. No DMS? Export your stock to a spreadsheet, save it as CSV and load the file instead.
Coming soon: read stock from your dealer page
We are building a second way to bring in stock: paste the link to your dealer page on AutoTrader, Gumtree, Cazoo or CarGurus, and DealerToolkit reads your cars from it in your own browser. It is not available yet. Until then, the stock feed is the way to list your AutoTrader stock, and it gives the most complete details.
Questions
Can I copy my AutoTrader adverts to Facebook Marketplace?
DealerToolkit lists the same cars from the stock feed behind your AutoTrader adverts rather than copying each advert page. The feed comes from your DMS or website provider and carries the full details and photos. Reading stock straight from your AutoTrader dealer page is being built and is not available yet.
Will my Facebook listing change when I change the price on AutoTrader?
Facebook listings never change by themselves. When the price changes in your stock system, the next time you press "Run feed" DealerToolkit moves the car to "Price changed" with the old and new price, so you can update it on Facebook or list it fresh.
What if my DMS cannot provide a stock feed?
Send your provider the DealerToolkit stock feed template, or email support@dealertoolkit.co.uk and we will help. In the meantime you can export your stock to a spreadsheet, save it as CSV and load the file in DealerToolkit.
Does this work for Gumtree, Cazoo or CarGurus stock too?
Yes, in the same way: DealerToolkit lists the cars from the stock feed behind those adverts. Reading stock straight from your Gumtree, Cazoo or CarGurus dealer page, like AutoTrader, is being built and is not available yet.
AutoTrader, Gumtree, Cazoo and CarGurus are trademarks of their owners. DealerToolkit is not affiliated with them or with Meta.
